Meet: Townsend Top 8 Meet
Date: 2011-05-05TOWNSEND - Colin Hoeffner, Boone Helm and Kenny Hoeffner each won two events to lead Townsend’s boys to a dominant showing at the Top 8 Meet on home turf Thursday.
Colin Hoeffner, who is ranked 11th statewide in the 100-meter dash with a best of 11.22 seconds, won the 100 (11.4) and 200 (23.79), and teammate Aaron Bourguois completed a sweep of the sprinting events with a victory in the 400 (53.46).
Helm added two more victories with a sweep of the hurdling events, navigating the 110 high hurdles in 16.19 and the 300 intermediate hurdles in 42.29. Helm is ranked fifth in the state in the 110 hurdles with a best of 15.32 and seventh in the 300 hurdles with a top mark of 40.90.
Kenny Hoeffner, who was third in the 100 (11.74) added to the championship haul with wins in the triple jump (39 feet, 6 inches) and the long jump (18-5 1/4), and all four competitors combined to help the Bulldogs register victories in the 4x100 relay (45.5) and 4x400 relay (3:45.8).
On the girls side, high jumper Lori Hansen picked up Townsend’s only win with a clearance of 4-10. BreAnne Watson placed second in the 1,600 (5:55.2) and 3,200 (12:20.3). (Helena Independent Record, May 6, 2011)
