Meet: Bob Reed Invitational
Date: 2011-04-30STEVENSVILLE - The Corvallis boys' and girls' track and field teams had a banner day on Saturday at the Bob Reed Invitational.
The Blue Devils had three girls win two events each in running away with their competition. They scored 184 points to top Hamilton (122) and Florence (78).
Freshman Sadi Henderson swept the 100 and 200 meters, including the 100 in 12.47 seconds. Senior teammate Paige Squire won the 400 in 58.34, which is one of the fastest times of the spring, to go with her victory in the 100 hurdles.
Squire posted a time of 14.37 in the high hurdles, the event in which she's attempting to set the state record (14.34).
Corvallis also saw Lakyn Connors win two events, the 300 hurdles (47.85) and the triple jump.
The Blue Devils also ran one of the fastest 400 relay times of the spring with a 49.47.
Florence thrower Megan Leathers came 1 inch shy of matching the all-class lead in the discus this spring. She went 128-7 to win.
On the boys' side, Corvallis tallied 187 points to beat Hamilton (94) and Florence (77).
For the Devils, Logan Connors uncorked the top throw of the spring in the javelin with his winning mark of 194-2.
Teammate Jimmy Henderson won the discus at 155-0, which cracked the top six in the state.
Stevensville's Josh Lords swept the 100 and 200, the former in 11.25 seconds.
Darby's Doug Raymer won both distance races, while Florence senior Ross Mangun took the triple jump at 43-2 3/4. (Missoulian, May 1, 2011)
