GLENDIVE — The Fairview Warriors came away with two first-place showings as they opened their track season at the Wibaux Invitational in Glendive Saturday.

Masyn Klose, a sophomore, earned first with a mark of 31-5 in the triple jump and took fourth in the high jump by clearing 4-8.

Morgan Klose, a senior, took first in the long jump at 15-8. She didn’t compete in other events due to injury.

Other highlights for Fairview’s girls included Tiffany Kittleson placing second in the pole vault by clearing 7-6. Morgan Taylor finished third in the 3200 (14.20.84) and fifth in the 1600. Schneider finished fifth in the 400 (65.85). The girls 1600-meter relay team consisting of Masyn Klose, Kittleson, Latisha Tornabeni and Brittany Schneider finished second at 4.46.52.

For Fairview’s boys, Cody Vitt led the way by taking second in the 400 (54.46), fourth in the 200 (24.65) and third in the discus (123-1). Brock Schriver earned fifth place in the long jump with a mark of 18-6.

Daniel Metzenberg finished third in the 3200 (10.47.90) and fifth in the 1600 (5.07.63). Cody Shelmerdine placed sixth in the 800 (2.20.94). Sean Murphy placed fifth in the discus with a mark of 119-5. The 1600-meter relay team of Seth Flynn, Christian Shaide, Shelmerdine and Vitt finished fifth at 4.12.31..

Highlights for Savage’s track team were Rachael Oliver placing fourth in the 800 (2.46.81) and Wyatt Hagler earning sixth in the 200 (24.75).

Alexis Johnson had a strong day for the R&L Fusion. The sophomore earned second in the discus (112-11) and sixth in the shot put (32-3). Shanna Olson took fifth in the shot put (32-4). The Fusion placed sixth in the 400-meter relay.

On the boys side, the Fusion were led by Jeremy Evenson with a second in the pole vault (10-6), third in the triple jump (37-10) and third in the high jump (5-7). Kyle Sheehan took third in the shot put at 40-10.

Culbertson’s Janae Reynen finished fourth in the 100 (13.6) and 200 (28.94).

Culbertson’s boys 400-meter relay team finished fourth. Taking sixth for the Cowboys were Lee Damm in the 3200 and Nick Oelkers in the 300-meter hurdles.

Glasgow took first in both the team standings. (Sidney Herald, April 10)
