Meet: Hardin Invitational
Date: 2011-04-02HARDIN — The Laurel High School track team sprinted, vaulted, and hurdled into action at the Hardin Invitational track meet last Saturday.
“We had some outstanding performances, some good performances and some not so good performances. The good news is that we have a better idea of where to put our freshmen and we know where we need to get some work done,” head coach Lisa Condon said. “The kids competed very well.”
The boys' team picked up the first place team trophy with a score of 116 points. Miles City trailed Laurel by more than 30 points for second place. Laurel's Robert Stamper clinched a first place victory in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:12.13. Fellow teammate, Derek Haskins ran in on Stamper's heals for the event with a time of 2:13.30.
On the girls side, Laurel combined for a team score of 47 to take fifth place behind Sidney, Glendive, Billings Central and Colstrip.
A pair of Lady Locomotives swept the 400 meter dash. Mikaela Beausoleil crossed the line in 1:02.38 while Bailey Dooper ran in at 1:02.65. Dooper and Beausoleil also placed fifth and sixth in the 800 with times of 2:42.80 and 2:46.40 respectively. Dooper also fared well in the long-jump with a leap of 15 feet 4 inches for third place.
