Meet: Blue Hawk Invitational
Date: 2011-04-14THOMPSON FALLS - The host team got a banner Thursday from Hope Reid, who claimed five events at the blustery Bluehawk Invitational track and field meet.
Reid won the 100 meters, both hurdles races, the high jump and pole vault as the Bluehawks piled up 172 points to win the girls' team title. Thompson Falls also won the boys' team title with 147.5 points, including wins from Dominique Holt in the 400 and 300 hurdles.
Troy was second in the boys' team race with 111.5 points; Plains, which had Taylor Firestone score a couple impressive wins in the jumps, was third with 78.
Kinzie Cooper, who won the 800 and the triple jump, helped Superior to second in the girls' team race; the Bobcats had 132 points. Plains was third with 84 points.
Reid won the 100 meters in 13.86 seconds, the high hurdles in 17.55 and the 300 hurdles in 50.21; she cleared 8 feet, 6 inches to win the pole vault and went 4-8 in the high jump.
The day's most impressive marks belonged to Firestone, who marked 20-11.5 in the long jump and 44-6.5 in the triple jump.
That wasn't enough to catch Thompson Falls, which saw Cody Phillips win the pole vault at 12-6, and Cody Orr (1,600) and Jaron Laws (3,200) take the distances. Preston Schubert won the 110-meter hurdles for the Bluehawks. Holt won the 400 in 55.86 seconds; he clocked 42.94 in the 300 hurdles.
Noxon's Adam Moore was a double winner, taking the discus and the javelin.
